KINGS OF MACEDON. Philip II, 359-336 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 26 mm, 14.42 g, 6 h), Amphipolis, circa 356-355. Laureate head of Zeus to right. Rev. ΦΙΛΙΠΠΟΥ Philip II on horseback to left, wearing kausia and raising his right hand in salute; below, thunderbolt; in exergue, ΔH. Le Rider - (D2/R-). SNG ANS 456 (same obverse die). Beautifully toned and of superb style, with an exceptionally fine head of Zeus. Scratches in the reverse field, otherwise, about extremely fine.
